There's no pressure to pick out the perfect present when you're not seeing anyone... instead, I'll send valentines to whoever I want and laugh at everyone who's depressed because they're single. It's all a state of mind. Side note: I don't think I've ever done the 'sit down and spend the evening with someone on valentine's day' thing either, mostly due to school... does this make us unusually awesome?
